Mike Bozich's Pompano Pick 5 Analysis 1/28 - $80,000 GUARANTEED POOL!

Race 1 - Pick 5

2-PUMPKINSPICELATTE
- Was driven to leave in her latest. She cleared before the quarter but her lead was short lived as she yielded to the favorite at 3/8ths. The speed stopped slightly in front of her before the head of the stretch giving the fresh-legged horses on the outside the momentum. Likely pacesetter tonight off the class drop.

4-STONEBRIDGE PEARL - She was buried last time. Shuffled all the way out to last. Did get room past the 1/8th but it was well over by then. She made mild strides while driven against much better. Cheapest she has faced in a while.

Selections 2-4

Race 2

8-SWEET BET - Was 5th over in her last in a stagnant flow. Saved ground around the final turn only to angle out 4 wide at the 1/8th for a strong rally under minimal urging. This is her 3rd start off of a two month layoff. Any kind of race shape gives her a monstrous shot off yet another drop in class. A win is imminent. Let's hope it's here at good odds.

1-WALK TWO MOONS - Giant in defeat last time. She battled hard to the quarter before yielding to two horses. After a slight shuffle, she slid out 2nd over at the half. She then lost cover at 3 quarters, but still raced admirably down the straight while being driven. Very sharp right now, and others in here figure to take money, including the 2 (METRO GLIDE)  who had an unchallenged ride-around against much softer last week.

Selections 8-1

Race 3 -

4-MYSTICAL BAY - Slight nod in a wide open leg of this pick 5. Was parked to the quarter before settling into the pocket from an outside post. She ended up in the 3-hole after the favorite brushed to the lead, She was buried after that. She did not find room until about 50 yards to go, as she was behind a wall of horses. She faces tougher but this field is suspect

2-POST TIME TERROR - Simons had her in great position last week to pick up the pieces. Beckwith and Green claim her back and move her up. She continues to do what is asked of her and that maybe all it takes in this field.

6-APRIL DEO - Macomber chose the 4 over her but there is some hidden form here. She was much the best off the drop 3 back, and followed that up with a good middle move against soft fractions two back, In her most recent, she stayed inside and tried to advance but got caught in a flow that was going in the wrong direction. She showed pace under mild handling when free.

Selections 4-2-6

Race 4

3-ROCK N ROLL ROSIE - She was 5th over last time before being sent 3-wide at 3 quarters. During her surge, she had her momentum thwarted by Rockin Desire (#4 in this race). She stayed behind that one the majority of the stretch while appearing to be tough to handle. She closed sharply nonetheless under hand driving. First time Wally. All systems go tonight

5-GALARINA - She nearly completed a long, uncovered grind last out. She disposed of the favorite just beyond the 1/8th, but couldn't hold off the fresh legs of the pocket sitter. That was a sharp effort. Simply can't leave her off the ticket.

8-BARYNYA A - Elected to stay inside last time and she was buried until beyond the 1/8th pole. She was splitting rivals late while being urged along. She gets easier here and Merton chooses her over the 2 (67-1 winner in her last). A threat.

Selections 3-5-8

Race 5

6-MCCOVEY COVE N - From the program line, it looks like she rode the 3 hole around and advanced some late but that wasn't the case. She was driven hard the first 1/8th of a mile, leading off the gate before being wrangled back into the 3 hole shy of the quarter. She then angled at 3 quarters and performed admirably while uncovered. The winner of that race may have to work a little harder for the lead tonight, and if Sanzeri can glide her into an early spot, she may have more of a finishing kick tonight.

8- ALWAYS YA BABY - Yes she beat the same group at puny odds last time, but it's post 8 as opposed to post 5. Wondering if she will have to work harder tonight for the lead. She was under urging the last quarter of a mile to stay on. Back to the Lareau barn.

4- FOX VALLEY SALSA - Worked hard to defend pocket position in an early three horse sprint to the quarter against the above two. The inside opened up the final 1/8th and she just didn't have enough to move through while driven. Post advantage over the above two again makes her a threat.
